The most common cause of neglected and problematic teeth is avoidance of dentists. Sedation is performed on the patient during a variety of procedures and surgeries. Sedation itself is not unsafe, although it should always be performed by a qualified medical practitioner. The patient does not feel any pain, and can be stress free and relaxed while the procedure is performed. (more...)

What Do I Do If My Gums Are Very Sensitive?

There are many causes for sensitive gums, but the symptom is always the same, terribly painful gums. Healthy gums also result in healthy and strong teeth, and puffy, sensitive gums could also result in tooth problems.

Sensitive gums, depending on the sensitivity, could range from painful to excruciatingly painful. Brushing can also be quite painful sometimes. It is important to use a toothbrush with very soft bristles so as not to cause any further damage to the gums.

Massaging gums can result in stronger and healthier gums. Wearing dentures could especially cause sore and inflamed gums. It is believed that regularly massaging gums gently with a finger can alleviate the swelling and relieve pain to a degree. It also helps keep gums clean. (more...)

How Often Should I Brush My Teeth?

Neglecting oral hygiene is not only unhygienic, but it also leads to other more serious and long term problems. Teeth are extremely strong while chewing, but as parts of the body, they are also fragile and need to be taken care of properly.

The first rule of maintaining teeth well is to keep them clean. Brushing is the common way of cleaning teeth and we start brushing our teeth at a very early age. Dentists usually recommend teeth to be brushed twice daily, once in the morning and once at night. It is important to stick to this brushing routine and make a habit of it.

Our teeth are naturally coated with a material known as enamel that protects them from damage. The layer of enamel can get damaged and once gone it is lost forever. Loss of enamel can result in highly sensitive teeth and other problems. Too much brushing or brushing with too much pressure can cause the enamel to wear off. (more...)
